rising_wingIt had been three weeks since Sora disappeared, and Riku was getting desperate. Everyone was getting desperate. Kairi was distraught, blaming herself for his vanishing.
Riku loved Kairi, but he could only take so much of her self-blame. He supposed this was how others felt when he blamed himself for everything that happened when they first started their journey—tit for tat, he guessed.
He sighed as he stopped, gazing around the Badlands area of the Keyblade Graveyard. What had happened here? How long ago? The next time he saw Aqua, he'd have to ask her. Or Terra.
What was he doing here of all places? There was nothing here. He sighed again. Leaning against the rock wall and thunked the back of his head against it, mentally berating himself, shutting his eyes and did his best not to let himself cry. Maybe he needed to. He hadn't let himself cry yet, wanting to be strong for Kairi. For Sora's parents.
He was losing the battle against tears. Maybe not today, but sometime in the future, he would lose if they didn't find Sora soon.
Not yet he told himself. There's no reason to cry. He's just missing. Not dead. You have to find him.
He opened his eyes and continued to wall into the Badlands. As he neared the area that Master Xehanort had created for their climactic battle, The Skein of Severance, he thinks Master Yen Sid called it, why it got named at all, Riku didn't know or care. He paused when he was near the area where he and Sora fought Xigbar and his dark Replica, which gave him another pang of sorrow when he sensed someone watching him from the shadows. He looked over, saw the darkness move, a familiarly shaped shadow, like the Sora-shaped Heartless he once commanded while under Malfecent's influence. It watched him a little longer, then move away from him. Not running away, more like...
More like wanting to be chased. Despite the ache of loss he felt, he couldn't help but smile a little. It wasn't Sora, but it could be a clue. And he did enjoy a good chase.
